Tata Nexon EV facelift teased ahead of September 7 debut
September 3, 2023
Following the debut of the Nexon facelift, Tata Motors has now dropped a teaser of the upcoming Nexon.ev facelift ahead of its September 7 debut. The teaser also confirms the .ev branding for the electric version of the Nexon under Tata’s recently renamed electric vehicle division; the pre-facelift model simply had an ‘EV’ suffix to distinguish it from the ICE counterparts. The .ev moniker first appeared as a badge on the electric Tiago, which was followed by branding on marketing material of the electric Tigor.

- Will have cosmetic differences from Nexon ICE facelift
- Expected to remain mechanically unchanged
Tata Nexon.ev exterior design
Unlike the outgoing ICE and EV versions of the Nexon that looked identical to each other except for the electric blue accents and EV badging, the facelifted models will be slightly differentiated in styling. The teaser gives us a glimpse of the nose of the Nexon.ev; it gets a full-width LED light bar like the Curvv concept and the rest of the design is also inspired by the concept.
The Nexon.ev also gets a single-tone body-coloured finish for the upper portion of the nose, which, on the ICE versions of the Nexon, has a contrasting black finish. The teaser also shows us the rear, but unlike the front, there are no changes here. There will, however, be .ev branding on the EV, and possibly, a unique design for the alloy wheels.
Tata Nexon.ev: what is known?
As we reported recently, Tata Motors will also drop the Prime and Max suffixes, and instead use Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) to differentiate between the two variants of the Nexon.ev. These are likely to be further split into four core trims – Smart, Pure, Creative and Fearless – although the exact split between the MR and LR versions is currently unknown. These trims are also expected to get optional packages which will be denoted by a ‘+’ suffix. The Nexon.ev will share its equipment list with the ICE versions of the compact SUV.
The Nexon.ev will, however, remain mechanically unchanged from outgoing model; the Nexon.ev MR will continue with the 30.2kWh battery and the LR will get the larger 40.5kWh battery. The MR has an ARAI-claimed range of 312km, while the LR has a range of 453km (MIDC). The latter will also have two charging options – a 3.3kW or a 7.2kW AC charger.
The Nexon.ev MR and LR will continue to use a permanent magnet synchronous motor – the MR will have outputs of 129hp and 245Nm of torque, while the LR will have outputs of 143hp and 250Nm.
The Nexon.ev will continue to rival the Mahindra XUV400 EV, which is its only direct rival in this segment. Prices, which are set to be announced on September 14 – alongside the ICE versions – will see a step up given all the feature and design upgrades the facelift gets.
