New BMW M2 CS revealed with striking ducktail spoiler
May 27, 2025

BMW has taken the wraps of the new M2 CS at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025. The CS – typical of what it suggests in BMW’s parlance – is a lighter, more performance-focused version of the M2 Coupe. It gets a few cosmetic tweaks over the regular M2, although the brand will reveal its full technical specifications on May 28.
- M2 CS’ most distinctive design is a new ducktail spoiler
- Its 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine makes about 50hp more than the regular M2
- M2 CS is expected to get titanium exhausts and retuned suspension
BMW M2 CS exterior and interior
It will take a keen eye to make out the differences between the face of the M2 CS and the regular M2, but this version has a slightly reworked grille and air vents on the bumper to allow the engine to breathe better. Its side profile features new gold-finished wheels, which is again a typical CS design element.
The most distinctive detail on the new M2 CS is a ducktail spoiler, which should help improve stability at high speeds. The car also gets a more blown-out rear diffuser. Inside, the M2 CS has much sportier bucket seats trimmed in M performance colours, lots of carbon fibre flourishes, and new CS logos on the seats and door sills.
BMW M2 CS engine, specs
While we await the official confirmation on technical specifications, our sister publication Autocar UK has learnt that the new M2 CS produces about 50hp and 100Nm more than the regular M2, taking total output up to 530hp and 650Nm of torque. It will continue to pack the 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The new M2 CS is also expected to have a retuned suspension setup, more powerful brakes with carbon ceramic discs and titanium exhausts to save weight. Notably, the example shown at Villa d’Este features an automatic gearbox, suggesting the M2 CS could follow the CS versions of the M3 and M4 and omit a manual option.
Stay tuned for more technical details on May 28.
