Camber Racing, Veloce Racing win Formula Bharat 2026

The 10th edition of the Formula Bharat student engineering competition recently concluded at Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway. SRM Institute of Science and Technology’s Camber Racing (Chennai) took top honours in the Combustion category, while Vishwakarma Institute of Technology’s Veloce Racing (Pune) was crowned winner in the Electric category.

Formula Bharat 2026 winners

Held every year since 2017, Formula Bharat tasks university student teams with designing and building formula-style single seaters. It’s the only Formula Student event from South Asia that’s recognised in the Formula Student World Ranking.

The winners aren’t picked based on speed alone; instead, teams are judged on a number of different criteria, including build, performance, cost effectiveness and business strategy.

First up are the three static events testing engineering design, cost and manufacturing, and business plan presentation. These account for 325 of the total 1,000 points, and the jury consists of experts from the automotive and motorsport fields. Next up are the dynamic events, where the student-built cars are tested for acceleration, braking, handling and endurance out on track. 

Over 60 teams from across the country participated in Formula Bharat this year, with Camber Racing and Veloce Racing emerging as the big winners.

Formula Bharat introducing new autonomous category in 2027

Formula Bharat 2026 also showcased a Formula Student autonomous vehicle built by IIT Bombay Racing. Organisers have confirmed that starting next year, they will introduce a new Autonomous category in addition to the existing combustion and electric ones.
