Suzuki GSX8R based touring bikes being readied, launch in 2026
June 14, 2025

So far, Suzuki’s 776cc parallel-twin engine platform has spawned the GSX-8S naked, the GSX-8R sportbike and the V-Strom 800 adventure bike. Now, according to a leaked certification document, come 2026, this platform will grow to include two new models, the GSX-8T and the GSX-8TT, which could be shown in the flesh at this year’s EICMA show, two years after the GSX-8R broke cover at the famous trade show.
- Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT likely to be road-biased touring bikes
- Engine to be shared with GSX-8R sportbike
- Debut likely around EICMA 2025
Suzuki to introduce two new 776cc bikes in 2026
GSX-8T models will share their engine with the 8R and make the same peak output as the sportbike
While specific details about the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are unavailable at the moment, since their names are almost identical to that of the 8S sporty naked and 8R sportbike, it is quite likely that these models will be road-biased ones. And since the V-Strom 800 range includes two models – one with a 19/17-inch alloy wheel setup and the other with a 21/17-inch wire-spoke wheel setup – these new GSX-8T models are likely to be positioned in the ‘tall-rounder’ category.
That essentially means you can expect upright ergonomics akin to an adventure touring model but the GSX-8T models will likely run on 17-inch wheels at both ends. The Suzuki GSX-8T models will join a growing number of tall-rounder middleweight models available in international markets such as the Triumph Tiger Sport 660, BMW F 900 XR and Yamaha Tracer 7, which have proven to be quite successful owing to their relatively affordable price tags, all-day comfort and long-distance capability.
This certification document specifies that the 776cc, twin-cylinder engine will continue to develop the same 82hp and 78Nm as the GSX-8R, with some changes to mapping and gearing likely to be sprinkled in to suit the different intended purpose of the GSX-8T models. Coming to the 8T and 8TT names, it seems like the 8T will be the standard model and the TT will likely to be a higher-spec model with a few more features as well as some optional luggage accessories thrown in. The GSX-8T models will slot in below the GSX-S1000GX litre-class tourer in Suzuki’s line-up and they could share some visual similarities with that bike as well as their middleweight counterparts.
