The price gap between the NX500 and Rebel is less in India than it is overseas.
The Honda CMX500 Rebel is the brand’s take on a 500cc bobber, and the higher price tag is due to the Rebel being brought in via the CBU route. That said, the Rebel 500 still manages to undercut the NX500 by Rs 78,000 and its direct rival the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 by Rs 64,000.
The Rebel 500 gets a 471cc, inline-2, liquid-cooled engine producing 46hp and 43.3Nm that’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Rebel 500 will compete with the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 and Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 as well as the Super Meteor 650, although the REs are a good deal more affordable at Rs 3.59 lakh and Rs 3.68 lakh onwards, respectively.
The Rebel 500 runs on unique wheel sizes, measuring 16 inches at both ends. The front uses a fat 130-section tyre while the rear gets a 150-section unit. Dual channel ABS is standard and the bike has a negative LCD display.
The Rebel 500 features a tubular steel frame and comes with an accessible seat height of 690mm. The bike has a relatively small 11.2-litre fuel tank, but its sub-195kg kerb weight puts it on par with Royal Enfield’s 350cc bikes rather than the 650s.
The Rebel 500 will be sold through select BigWing Top Line dealers and is currently available only in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Deliveries will commence in June 2025.
