New Audi A5 e-hybrid powertrain, specs

Gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with gearbox-integrated electric motor

The A5 e-hybrid is powered by a 252hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 142hp electric motor housed within the gearbox. Depending on the state of tune, the total combined output for both the sedan and estate versions is 300hp/450Nm or 367hp/500Nm. Both versions have a 7-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive.

25.9kWH battery charges from 0 to 100 percent in 2.5 hours

The A5 e-hybrid gets a 25.9kWh battery pack that allows up to 110km of electric-only range. It supports AC charging up to 11kW, which tops up the battery from 0 to 100 percent in 2.5 hours. Audi claims to have also improved the regenerative braking performance, the degree of which can be adjusted using paddle shifters on the steering wheel. There are two drive modes on offer – EV and hybrid. In hybrid mode, the hybrid management system maintains a specific charge level in order to save enough energy for later use.

Aside from the e-hybrid badge on the front fender, the PHEV A5 models remain visually identical to the standard models, as does the equipment list. The A5 e-hybrid Quattro, with the higher power level, comes standard with the S line and black exterior styling packages. Inside, the MMI panoramic display, which includes the 11.9-inch digital driver display and the 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, has also been carried over.
