Tata Punch facelift: Your questions answered

September 15, 2024

Pre-facelift Tata Punch used for representative purpose.

Tata Motors is planning to introduce a mid-life update for the Punch soon. As per our sources, the launch of the Punch facelift has been pre-poned from the mid-2025 launch timeline revealed by Tata Motors earlier. Here, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the upcoming Tata Punch facelift.

When is the updated Tata Punch launching?

Tata Motors is yet to reveal the exact timeline, but we expect it to arrive in just the coming weeks. This means the mid-life refresh would arrive in just three years of the SUV first going on sale in India.

Will the Punch get a new design?

There aren’t going to be any major changes on the cosmetic front with this update, likely to maintain a differentiation with the Punch EV that adopts Tata’s latest design language akin to the larger SUVs. There could be some reshuffling of the color options available with each trim; the interior colours and upholstery are also going to remain unchanged.

What features will the updated Punch offer?

The biggest updates will be on the equipment front. The Punch will get a larger 10.25 inch infotainment screen replacing the current 7.0-inch unit, with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a wireless charger and Type-C charging ports. A single-pane electric sunroof will continue, however, will be made availabe on more variants. There will also be a new centre console with improved storage and a front armrest and integrated rear AC vents.

What powertrains will be on offer with the updated Punch?

The Punch will carry over its existing 1.2-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine that puts out 86hp and 113Nm peak torque. The 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes will also be carried forward unchanged. Just like the current model, the updated Punch will also get a CNG version with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, Tata Motors has skipped on the AMT gearbox with the CNG version, although its offered on the Tiago CNG.

How much would the Tata Punch facelift cost?

The pre-facelift Punch is currently priced from Rs 6.13 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 10.20 lakh. Owing to the changes, the facelifted model will carry a marginal price increment. The Punch is the only Tata ICE car that did not receive a price cut for the festive period.
