Audi India Q2 sales fall 6 percent year on year to 1,431 units

Audi India retailed 1,431 cars and SUVs in this year’s second quarter (Q2) that ended in June, a 37 percent growth over the preceding three months. However, compared to Q2 of 2023, sales have dropped 6 percent. Audi attributed this decline to supply-chain challenges.

The German carmaker, however, hasn’t provided a model-wise sales breakdown or mentioned which was its best-selling product. Audi had retailed 1,046 units in Q1 of 2024, which means its half-yearly sales stand at 2,477 units. Audi has been significantly lagging behind its chief rivals, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in sales. For instance, BMW India retailed 7,089 units in the first half of this year. Having said that, Audi faced supply-related issues even in Q1 of 2024.

“While the supply situation in Q2 2024 has improved compared to Q1 2024, it still played a limiting factor in our sales performance. We are confident that our supplies will normalise during the second half of this year, and we will be able to better serve customer demand,” said Audi India’s head, Balbir Singh Dhillon. It is important to emphasise that demand remains strong across our vast product portfolio, he added.

The company’s pre-owned car business grew 33 percent in the Q2 of 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year; the growth was 11 over Q1, 2024. It has 27 Audi Approved Plus facilities and plans to add three more this year.
