Bajaj Pulsar NS400 to be positioned below Dominar 400

April 27, 2024

bajaj pulsar, pulsar ns400, launch date in India.

The long-awaited Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will be launched on May 3 and we now have some insights into what to expect from this machine. The first point of note is that it will use the existing 373cc engine from the Bajaj Dominar 400, and not the new-gen 399cc motors from either Triumph or KTM. The main reason behind this is to keep costs under control, because the price is going to be a very important factor with this bike.

  1. Could cost below the Rs 2 lakh mark
  2. Design will be similar to current Pulsar NS family
  3. Will likely be lighter than 193kg Dominar 400

It is possible that the Pulsar NS400 will be priced below the Rs 2 lakh mark, which will make this the most affordable of the 400cc bikes. It will also be positioned comfortably below the Dominar 400, which currently costs Rs 2.30 lakh. For reference, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 costs about Rs 1.50 lakh, while the existing Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs 1.54 lakh.

This will easily make the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 the most budget-friendly way to get 40hp levels of performance. Speaking of, the liquid-cooled motor might have some small differences in tune, but it will mostly be similar to the Dominarā€™s engine, which produces 40hp and 35Nm.

The chassis will continue to be the steel perimeter unit as seen in the NS200, but with some changes for this application; the NS400 also gets an upside down fork as seen in the spy image. What is worth looking forward to is that this will quite surely be a lighter motorcycle than the 193kg Dominar, but it remains to be seen by how much.

Styling-wise, expect to see some changes over the existing NS200, but not dramatically so. Leaked images have shown that the bike will get a different headlamp with a single projector as seen on the newer Pulsar N160 and N250. What’s different here is a striking lightning bolt shaped LED DRL (similiar to the new NS200 & NS160) that runs on both sides of the headlamp.

Given that the Pulsar NS400 will run a larger engine, we may see some differences in the bodywork to accommodate that, but again, it probably wonā€™t have a dramatically different look to the current NS motorcycles.

Beyond that, expect to see the new LCD display that is now found on multiple Pulsar models. This display will bring in things like Bluetooth connectivity and the bike should have the same electronic assists (switchable ABS and traction control) that recently debuted on the updated Bajaj Pulsar N250.

This is what we know so far about the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 and weā€™ll share more updates as we get them. Let us know your thoughts on Bajajā€™s biggest Pulsar ever in the comments section below.Ā
