BMW G 310 RR leaked ahead of July 15 launch

July 15, 2022

With barely 24 hours to the launch, clear pictures and a video of the BMW G 310 RR have surfaced online. The photos reveal details of the BMW G 310 RR, which is essentially the Bavarian manufacturer’s version of the TVS Apache RR 310. To refresh your memory, TVS and BMW have co-developed a 310cc motorcycle platform, wherein BMW already has a street naked and an ADV based on it, while the TVS has the RR 310 supersport.

  • Shares most bodywork with TVS Apache RR 310

  • Gets BMW colourways

The video and photos of the BMW G 310 RR show that the bike shares most of its bodywork with its TVS cousin. That being said, BMW seems to have taken some effort to tweak the styling. By the looks of it, the visor on the Bavarian derivative seems to be slightly different, and the cuts and creases around the headlight are something we don’t see on the Apache.

The bike we see in the images is wearing the BMW HP-liveried colourway, with a predominantly white shade with streaks of blue and red: the traditional BMW colours. And don’t miss the BMW roundel on the fairing.

Underneath the bodywork, the G 310 RR seems to have the same steel-trellis frame, wheels and suspension as on the Apache RR 310. The tyres, however, are the Michelin Pilot Streets that we’ve seen on the BMW G 310 R, the naked bike version of the G 310 RR. The brake disc is also different, and not the petal disc we’ve seen on the TVS. It is unclear if the bike we see here has adjustable suspension, although BMW’s teaser did show that it does. It is likely that the BMW G 310 RR will have non-adjustable suspension as standard, with adjustable ones available as an option, as is the case with the Apache RR 310 Built to Order or BTO kit.

In terms of equipment, the bike will have full-LED lights and the Apache’s 5.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

As for the engine, the 312.2cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit is expected to be carried over in the same state of tune – 34hp at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm of torque at 7,700rpm. It should also come with ride modes – Rain, Urban and Sport like the Apache – which alter power and ABS sensitivity.

The BMW G 310R and the TVS Apache RR 310, both carry an identical price tag of Rs 2.65 lakh. Their rival is the substantially more powerful, and recently launched, KTM RC 390, which carries a price tag of Rs 3.14 lakh. It’s certain that the G 310 RR will be more expensive than its naked sibling, but, at the same time, it is unlikely to sit too close to the KTM, and will most likely be priced under Rs 3 lakh.
