Bajaj CT 100 taken off the shelf in India

May 28, 2022

 – Dealer dispatches stopped since a few weeks

– Could be a temporary suspension of production

Bajaj Auto has discontinued its most affordable motorcycle, the CT 100, in India. The dealers have stopped receiving stock of the bike after the company suspended its production a few weeks back. However, this could be a temporary suspension and the CT100 might come back. As of now, the only motorcycle available in Bajaj’s CT line-up is the retro-inspired CT 110 X.

The Bajaj CT 100 was known for its affordable price tag and extremely high mileage figures. With a price tag of Rs 53,696 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it was one of the cheapest bikes on sale in India. Moreover, a lot of owners have reported a fuel efficiency of 70kmpl which makes it easy on the pocket. With minimal body panels and Bajaj’s ‘SNS’ suspension setup, it made for one durable and comfortable motorcycle.

The CT 100 was powered by a 102cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 7.79bhp of power and 8.34Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. Underpinned by a single downtube chassis, it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended on telescopic at the front and dual springs at the rear. Braking is taken care of a drum at both ends.

The Bajaj CT 100 mainly faced competition from the Hero Splendor Plus which has been India’s best-selling motorcycle for a long time now.
