2022 Yamaha MT-25 and YZF-R25 launched overseas, India bound?

– Both bikes are now Euro-5 compliant

– Yamaha will offer an optional quickshifter for both

– The YZF-R25 is now available in the 60th Anniversary paint scheme too

Yamaha has updated both of its quarter-litre offerings for the international market, the YZF-R25 and the MT-25. The 250cc siblings have received mechanical as well as feature updates and here’s what you need to know. 

Firstly, both the bikes now adhere to Euro-5 norms and employ a cleaner liquid-cooled 249cc parallel-twin motor. The output is rated at 35bhp and 23Nm for the bikes. A 6-speed gearbox with an optional quickshifter too is common. 

Yamaha has suspended both the 250cc bikes on USD front forks and monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The 2022 Yamaha MT-25 and the YZF-R25 ride on a 110/70-17 front and a 149/70-17 rear tyre. 

That said, Yamaha is also offering the YZF-R25 draped in the 60th Anniversary edition colour scheme. The bike comes painted in Red and White colour for the bodywork and the alloys are finished in Golden colour.

In Japan, the asking price for the standard YZF-R25 is set to JPY 6,68,800 (approximately Rs 4.09 lakh) and the special edition model costs JPY 6,90,800 (approximately Rs 4.23 lakh). On the other hand, the MT-25 retails at JPY 6,32,500 (approximately Rs 3.8 lakh). Yamaha India hasn’t expressed any interest in getting either of the models to India anytime soon.
